Special Collections is now closed until summer 2022 due to refurbishment work taking place
on Library Level F. We will provide updates on our webpage at
Archives & Special
Collections.
The
Archive Catalogue is an online finding aid to the archives held at Archives & Special
Collections, SOAS Library, University of London.
Collections
include the archives of a number of British missionary societies (as well as
the personal papers of individual missionaries), NGOs and pressure groups,
significant holdings of business archives relating to East Asia, and African
language and literature material.
Furthermore
many personal papers of individuals (including the archives of scholars,
writers and travellers) important to the study of Africa, Asia, the Middle
East, Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the South Pacific and Australasia
are held here at SOAS.
Collection level descriptions are available for all of our catalogued material,
with many entries having more detailed information as well. However, some
detailed guides to collections are only available in hardcopy and can be
consulted in the Special Collections Reading Room.
Currently the online Archive Catalogue does not include details of the
important collections of foreign language manuscripts we hold but information
regarding these is available in the Special Collections Reading Room
Information
on rare books and thesis can be found on the Library
Catalogue.
Please
be aware that the Archive Catalogue does not include digitised images of any of
our holdings. For information on what digitised material is available please
see Our
Collections on the Archives & Special Collections webpage.
